Applications to attempt 5th dan and above should be notified to the grading officer at least 6 months in advance. The thesis should be in English or in the native language with an English summary and should be sent to the grading officer at least 3 months before the date of grading.
The dan grading fee to be made up of 2 payments:
1. Application fee – (non-refundable)
2. Certificate fee – (refunded if unsuccessful)
All fees paid initially into the bank account of the member country of the candidate.
The member country should then make a payment into the bank account of the SSUE to cover the total cost of grading fee – application fee + certificate fee.
The SSUE Treasurer should be notified of this payment by email when it is made.
Any refunds that may be necessary will be paid by the SSUE to the member country who in turn will refund the candidate.
The chief instructor of all new member countries or organisations will be asked to provide proof of their grading history. This is not necessary if the last grading of the national representative was taken in front of the Shito-ryu Shukokai Karatedo World Union grading commission. The DC has to make a decision on whether that person should have their present grade confirmed by requesting them to perform the relevant grading within 18 months.
